Historic Yorktown

Located about 15 minutes from Williamsburg in the Hampton Roads region, Historic Yorktown is a quaint and beautiful waterside town located on the York River.

image1 (2)If you love Virginia’s historic landmarks, you will love it here. Experience 18th Century homes and revolutionary battlefields and learn all about its part in the Revolutionary War while walking picturesque streets. The scenic riverwalk is a favorite spot to take in the sites and beauty of the river, and Yorktown Beach is perfect for a day on the water.

Take a break from the sites by visiting their art galleries, antique and specialty shops just steps away from the riverfront. Visit the museums offering hands on programs and exhibits and don’t miss out on a free trolley tour.

The restaurants here are as charming as they come, and a few are in perfect view of the York River. The Riverwalk Restaurant is a favorite of ours.

And when you’re ready to turn in for the night, York River Inn Bed & Breakfast is fantastic with an absolutely spectacular breakfast. And they are the only waterfront B&B in the area which means it books up fast, so plan ahead!

This is their outdoor market that features artists, chefs, vendors, and live music all in the middle of town with the breathtaking views of the riverfront. Grab a coffee and stroll Riverwalk Landing while browsing and buying locally grown seasonal produce, homemade breads and pastries, fresh meat and seafood, flowers, handmade soaps and candles, and much more! Visit their Facebook page for special event information and market hours.

If you’re looking for a small town, away from the hustle and bustle, feel for a weekend getaway or day trip, Yorktown is a fantastic, family-friendly spot for some history, R&R, and activities on the water.
