People dream of cookies from Sugar Fix, and some drive a good ways to feed their craving for their delicious treats. Although owner, Melinda Foster offers her customers much more than cookies–brownies, cakes, and other fresh sweets are also on the menu–cookies were what jump started her business and her love of baking. Melinda has been baking since she was a child, but in 2011 she started making her creations for friends and family and then for corporate events. Her success afforded her the opportunity to open a storefront is 2015 and historic Ashland is where she landed. Her cookies are known all over Richmond as some of the best of the best and we absolutely agree! We love her Decorated Sugar Cookies ourselves!! Click on the link above for Melinda’s full story, menu selections, and store hours.

Sugar & Twine Bakeshop and Coffee isn’t just a bakery, but a full blown coffee shop and bakery of all confections. Their coffee is what most come in for at first, but their artisanal pastries and TO DIE FOR cookies are what keeps them coming back. Since my first visit, I haven’t gone in without ordering one of their Sea Salt and Chocolate Chip cookies. Hands down one of the best cookies I’ve had in my life! A must visit if you’re in Carytown.

If you’re looking for cookies for any gathering or celebration, this is your place. River City Sweets is known for their beautiful custom decorated sugar cookies that they design for any event, but they also offer the most delicious traditional-style cookies, all made with the highest quality ingredients. And they have a wide selection, with anything from good ‘ole Chocolate Chip to Lemon, Oatmeal Butterscotchies, Red Velvet Chocolate Chip, Gingerbread (great for your holiday needs, and more. Find them near Monument Ave. in the Fan. They also make some of the most beautiful occasion cakes we’ve ever seen.

Whisk Bakery Downtown

One word…Macaron! You really can’t go wrong with anything from Whisk, but my love for their macarons is strong. These chewy french cookies made in a rainbow of colors and assortment of flavors are one of Whisk’s signature menu items. Richmonders flock to Whisk for these delightfully light, sweet confections and when you taste one, you’ll see why. Plus, their gluten-free! Do yourself a favor though and head to Whisk’s sister ice cream shop, Scoop, for one of their Macaron Ice Cream Sandwiches…you’ll thank me later.
