It’s National Pie Day, so obviously I celebrated by visiting my very favorite local pie shop, Floozies! Located about an hour outside of downtown Richmond in Louisa, VA, Floozies makes the best pies all from scratch. I grew up, and still live in, rural Virginia, so small town spots are my jam and Floozies is exactly what you picture in your mind when you imagine a pie shop in the country.

It’s a sweet little spot in Historical Downtown Louisa with only a handful of tables, brightly colored blue walls, antiques displayed throughout, and smiling faces that greet you with “what’ll you have today, sweetie?” when you walk in the door. And whether you come in specifically for the pie or you sit down for breakfast, brunch, or lunch, it’s almost guaranteed you’re not leaving without either having a slice with coffee to end your meal or an entire pie in your hand for later. A display case loaded with freshly baked pies (both sweet and savory) and pastries stares you right in the face at the checkout counter, so you have no chance. It calls you.

My personal favorites are the Michigan Sour Cherry, Coconut Custard, and Chocolate Bourbon Nut pies. And if you can’t choose just one (which is seriously almost impossible to do), go for what they call the “Franken” Pie which lets you mix and match 8 of their scrumptious slices.

If you need a pie in a hurry, you can call and reserve one of their daily specials or you can call in advance for them to bake a specific flavor for you. Click here for their extensive list of pies, prices, and to get ordering information. They also bake beautiful and delicious cakes for special events, yummy cookies, macarons, and more.

Take a little drive to Louisa and visit Floozies Pie Shop for some good ole southern hospitality and a slice of their heavenly pie. You can thank me later.

  1. I made the mistake of clicking the link to the pie shop. Now…I’m…craving…pie.
